Most often than not, many people spend thousands of their hard-earned savings to buy farms with the intention of carrying out irrigated agriculture without knowing the groundwater potential of the area. Given that irrigated farming requires a lot of water, this at times results into loss of colossal sums of money and disappointment if it is later established that the area doesn’t have sufficient water to sustain the envisaged projects.

To avoid such financial losses and disappointments, it is prudent to carry out a preliminary

groundwater assessment to determine the water potential of the area before one buys a farm. This entails review and analysis of existing data e.g. geological, hydrogeological and geophysical data, to establish the general groundwater potential of the area through a desktop study. This would give an indication if the area has the potential to meet the water demand for the planned agricultural activities.

Leskacon undertakes such preliminary groundwater assessments at minimal and affordable fees for farmers, thereby assisting them to save thousands of Pulas.
